Physical Education is an integral part of Phoenix Primary School, from learning Fundamental Motor Skills in our early years to progressing and acquiring the skills necessary for organised competitions in our senior years.
Each class takes part in a Physical Education lesson once a week and our students in Years 4-6 take part in Senior Sport session on Fridays. In this session our sporting teams practice for upcoming interschool sports carnivals. Those students not part of these teams are offered a range of alternative sporting activities including Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Skipping, Frisbee Golf and Bowls.
Throughout the year, the school brings in professional coaches to provide before-school coaching sessions for 4-6 weeks for badminton and tennis. The coaches provide a Tuesday session for Years 1-3 and a Tuesday session for Years 4-6. The coaching sessions are free but unfortunately limited to the first 20 students.
The school provides the students the opportunity to play badminton and tennis during break times. This is with thanks to the dedication of our Sports Captains, who have taken on the responsibility for setting up the courts each morning.
