Phoenix Primary strives to provide a safe and caring environment for all students, staff and community members.

 

 

 

Student Services Team

 

Success for all students—we believe that every child is capable of being a successful learner. The social and emotional health and well being of all students at Phoenix Primary is a high priority as it plays an important factor how well a student will achieve in all areas of their schooling.  Phoenix Primary School is committed to identifying students at risk and addressing the needs of students as early as possible to ensure that every student achieves to their full potential.

 

The members of the team are as follows:

 

Margaret Pretty – Principal

Wendy Conti – Deputy Principal (manages Student Services & Learning Support)

Marie Hackett – School Psychologist (1.5 days per week)

Chaplain – Tania Bell (1.5 days per week)

School Health Nurse – Janet Hutchinson

 

Student Services provides support in these main areas:

  • Behaviour
  • Learning
  • Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Attendance
  • Physical Health

This team is responsible for:

  • identification and early intervention to target students at educational risk (SAER)
  • providing support for students to address their identified needs
  • increasing student safety and wellbeing 
  • building the capability of teachers and other support staff to improve the educational outcomes for students
  • working with families and the community to support, liaise and assist student development

 

If you have any concerns about your child and feel they may need to access this support, please see your child's teacher or contact the Deputy Principal.  Students may also be referred to Student Services by your child’s teacher.

Virtues Program

 

Each fortnight we will focus on a different virtue as a way of developing these

virtues within our students and staff. Our Principal introduces a virtue to the school community at each assembly and describes the behaviours we are striving to achieve. Students who display these virtues will be recognised at the following assembly and be awarded a virtues certificate.

 

 

Responsibility

  • It means that I can depend on you.
  • You keep your agreements and take responsibility for your actions.
  • You give your best to whatever you do.

 

Kindness  

  • Being concerned about the welfare of others.
  • Showing that you care about anyone or anything that crosses your path.
  • To care for others and the earth as much or more than you care about yourself.
  • Showing love to someone who is sad or needs your help.

 

Respect

  • Treat others as you want to be treated.
  • Speak courteously to everyone.
  • Take special care of other people’s belongings.
  • Be receptive to the wisdom of elders.
  • Honour the rules of the family, school and nation.
  • Expect respect for your body and your rights.
