Term 2 - Week 4 Update
Wow, how are we already week 4?

Ms Clapsis and I have been so impressed with how well B4 have been working.

We would like to congratulate B4 on their hard work and effort towards NAPLAN. The students' sat their last test today and we have been so happy to see how hard they tried.

Numeracy Update-
This term, students have been focusing on place value, ordering numbers, telling time to the nearest minute ad interpreting data representations.

Literacy Update-
In Talk For Writing (T4W) we have started a new story, The Papaya that Spoke. This text helps us to focus on using speech and the correct punctuation in our writing.

Science Update-
Year 3's have been focusing on Physical Science.
Our focus is on
  • describing how heat can be produced such as through friction or motion, electricity or chemically (burning)
  • identifying changes that occur in everyday situations due to heating and cooling
  • exploring how heat can be transferred through conduction
  • recognising that we can feel heat and measure its effects using a thermometer

Thank you again to the year 3's for their efforts and hard work over the past fortnight.
Well done!

Miss Sedgwick and Ms Clapsis

Term 1 - Week 10 Update
We can't believe we are almost at the end of Term 1.

B4 students have been working extremely hard this term and if you come in and visit our classroom, you will see just how hard they have been working.

B4 have enjoyed creating and publishing their very own stories and then turning those stories into comic strips. We have been enjoying getting ready for Easter and competing some Easter art and crafts.

Maria and I would like to thank parents and guardians for their ongoing support in the classroom. Term 1 has been an absolute pleasure with students from B4. They should all be very proud of their accomplishments.

We wish you a very safe and happy holiday.

Happy Easter everyone.

Term 1 - Week 9 - Science
The year 3 students thoroughly enjoyed their Science experiment this week. Each glass jar had water in it, one was cold water, one was room temperature and the other had boiling water. We put a couple of drops of blue dye in each of the jars and observed what happened. The students discussed how the dye moved and dissolved differently in each jar. We talked about how the hot water made the dye move faster and the cold water moved slower. The year 3 had a fantastic time discussing their observations and findings with their peers. Well done year 3's!

Term 1 - Week 8 - Harmony Day
We would like to thank everyone for taking part in Harmony Day.  A special thanks to the family members who gave up their time to stay in our classroom,  and to the parents who shared their food.  A wonderful day was had by all.

Term 1 - Week 7 - Numeracy Group Rotations
B4 enjoyed our numeracy rotations today focusing on 3D shapes and Place Value.  Each group had a turn rotating around each work station.

One group worked with me focusing on naming and labelling the features of 3D shapes. Another group enjoyed making the shapes with toothpicks and playdough.  The 3rd group played a card game using place value and making the largest number they could with the cards they were given.  The 4th group were on the computers completing  maths tasks working on their number skills!

Great work B4! The hard work and effort is so fantastic to see!

Term 1 - Week 7 - B4 Update
What a fabulous start of Term 1 we have had so far!  The class has been working hard and enjoying learning many new concepts.

Numeracy - learning timetables, fractions, 3D shapes and place value.

Literacy - Narrative and Persuasive Writing.  NAPLAN Practise and lots of new spelling rules.

Science - States of Matter (solids, liquids and gases)

The students thoroughly enjoyed our fraction lesson today using skittles to figure out the fractions of each of the different flavours in their packets.

They had a blast!
