Term 3 - Welcome Back!

Hello Everyone

Welcome back to school!  This term our theme will be “The Farm”.  We will learn about the purpose of a farm and the various animals and plants the farmer grows. Later this term “Farmyard on Wheels” will visit the centre.

Our story for Talk 4 Writing this term is Rosie’s Walk. Last week the children went for a Rosie’s Walk treasure hunt. They were very excited to find the gift she had left us in the playground.   The children have Talk 4 Writing books in the class. These contain the work they have done so far, please ask if you would like to view your child’s work.

In mathematics this term we will continue to work on your child’s number knowledge. Most children can identify the numerals 1 to 5. This term we will focus on recognising the numerals 1 to 10.  If you need advice on how to help your child please come and see me.  We will also look at the language of position and direction, ordering items according to size and pattern making.

We will hold a special Dad’s Breakfast later this term to celebrate Father’s Day. Details will be sent home closer to the date.

Kind Regards

Shelley Chapman

Term 2 - Week 10 - International Luncheon
This week the children celebrated the end of the term with an International luncheon. This was a wonderful conclusion to our theme work on families and a celebration of the many cultures and nationalities we have in our class. The children have enjoyed sharing their "family news" and making flags from the countries their families come from. We have a total of 16 flags displayed in our class room!  Many thanks to the parents who provided a delicious array of international cuisine, the children had a lovely time sampling the different foods and choosing their favourites.

Term 2 - Week 6 - Worm Farm
This week the children had a special visitor from Bunnings. Doris helped the children set up a worm farm for the centre. The children helped put the farm together and enjoyed feeling the wiggly worms. We will be placing our fruit and vegetable scraps into the farm so that we can make fertiliser for our garden. Bunnings kindly donated all the materials.

Term 2 - Week 2 - Mother's Day Afternoon Tea

Thankyou to all the Mums' who attended our Mother's Day afternoon Tea this week.  The children enjoyed decorating cupcakes and making bracelets for their Mums'. They also treated them to a special back massage. Following our activities we treated our special guests with a delicious afternoon tea.  Make sure you come and see all the photos in the centre. Have a very Happy Mother's Day!

Term 2 - Week 1

Goldilocks Visits the Kindy!

Last week Goldilocks visited our kindy and made a terrible mess in the home corner. Oats and porridge were everywhere.  She left us a note saying she was very sorry.  Mrs Arnoldi cleaned up the mess and then as part of the Talk 4 Writing programme we made porridge.  Goldilocks and the Three Bears will be our Talk 4 Writing story for this term.

Term 1 - Week 7 - Update

This week we explored the sense of touch. We made slippery slime with Mrs Rodrigues. In Talk 4 Writing we have been learning to retell "The Enormous Watermelon". As a follow up activity we made delicious fruit kebabs. We also planted a tomato plant and pansy seedlings.

Term 1 - Week 5 - Morning Tea Thank you

Many thanks to all of those who attended the nurse information session and morning tea last week.  It was lovely to see so many parents enjoying the morning tea and catching up with friends and making new acquaintances. The kindergarten year is not only a new beginning for your child, it is also a wonderful opportunity for parents to establish new friendships and to develop a social network.

Many parents have already selected their interview times. If there isn’t a time that suits you please come and see me so we can make alternative arrangements. This week I will be sending home interview forms, please bring these to your interview. I will also be sending home child information forms, please return these as soon as possible.

The Parent Roster is now up!  Please choose a date and time you would like to come. You do not have to stay for the entire morning. This is a time for you to spend with your child, if you can spare an hour that would be wonderful!

Dear Parents,

Many thanks to all of those who attended the class meeting last week.

This term we will be investigating the theme of ourselves, this will included learning about our bodies, the five senses, and identifying what makes each person unique.  As part of this each child will bring home a bag called “All about Me”. Please follow the instructions and send the bag back to school the following day. Bags will be sent out on different days so please don’t worry if your child doesn’t bring home a bag the first day.

In maths we have been learning about same and different, we will be moving onto sorting and numbers later in the term.  We have also begun our “Talk for Writing” programme.  This term our story is “The Enormous Watermelon”.  Ask your child to retell it to you.

The school nurse will hold an information session later this term. I will send out more details when the date is set.

Looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child,

Kind Regards,

Shelley Chapman
