Term 2 - Week 10 - Talk 4 Writing
Term 2 - Week 10 - International Luncheon
This week the children celebrated the end of the term with an International luncheon. This was a wonderful conclusion to our theme work on families and a celebration of the many cultures and nationalities we have in our class. The children have enjoyed sharing their "family news" and making flags from the countries their families come from. We have a total of 16 flags displayed in our class room! Many thanks to the parents who provided a delicious array of international cuisine, the children had a lovely time sampling the different foods and choosing their favourites.
Term 2 - Week 6 - Worm Farm
This week the children had a special visitor from Bunnings. Doris helped the children set up a worm farm for the centre. The children helped put the farm together and enjoyed feeling the wiggly worms. We will be placing our fruit and vegetable scraps into the farm so that we can make fertiliser for our garden. Bunnings kindly donated all the materials.
Term 2 - Week 2 - Mother's Day Afternoon Tea
Thankyou to all the Mums' who attended our Mother's Day afternoon Tea this week. The children enjoyed decorating cupcakes and making bracelets for their Mums'. They also treated them to a special back massage. Following our activities we treated our special guests with a delicious afternoon tea. Make sure you come and see all the photos in the centre. Have a very Happy Mother's Day!
Many thanks to all of those who attended the class meeting last week.
This term we will be investigating the theme of ourselves, this will included learning about our bodies, the five senses, and identifying what makes each person unique. As part of this each child will bring home a bag called “All about Me”. Please follow the instructions and send the bag back to school the following day. Bags will be sent out on different days so please don’t worry if your child doesn’t bring home a bag the first day.
In maths we have been learning about same and different, we will be moving onto sorting and numbers later in the term. We have also begun our “Talk for Writing” programme. This term our story is “The Enormous Watermelon”. Ask your child to retell it to you.
The school nurse will hold an information session later this term. I will send out more details when the date is set.
Looking forward to a wonderful year with you and your child,
Dorothy Rodrigues (Student Teacher)
