The boys and girls of the Phoenix soccer teams had a wonderful day out at Beale Park. The extra training sessions the boys and girls had taken part in after school paid dividends; with the A Team finishing as Champions of A division and our B Team coming a very creditable 3rd place.
The A team started the day in scintillating form winning the first 4 games without conceding a goal, despite a narrow 1-0 loss to Coogee in our 5th game we qualified for the semi-finals as group winners. A comfortable semi-final win over Guilford Grammar set up a final with local rivals Newton PS. Once again the players showed their class to win the final 2-1.
The B team played well throughout the Interschool Carnival. Two excellent goals each from Dianne and Kruz, helped secure 3rd place in the Interschool Carnival.
All students demonstrated commendable sportsmanship and fair play throughout the day.

On Thursday June 21 four of the Notre Dame pre-service teachers and I took a group of year 4-6 students to compete in the 2018 Winter Netball Interschool Carnival. The carnival was held at Success Regional Sporting Grounds with 28 teams competing on the day.
Despite the rain, our A team managed to secure 4th overall. The feedback from students proved the day was a fantastic success as they showed off their skills and knowledge of the rules.
A big thank you to Tracey Katnich, Renee Puizina and Trudy Kinita for coming along to support Phoenix Primary and to the Notre Dame teachers who assisted with coaching, sorting out positions and managing the sporting equipment.
Well done to all students who attended, your behaviour was exceptional and thank you for giving up your lunch breaks this term for our training sessions.
